Why Add a Frame to Shared Reels?

Sharing your Reels in Stories can significantly expand their reach and visibility. By adding a frame to your shared Reels, you can enhance their visual appeal and reinforce your brand identity. A well-designed frame helps your content stand out from the rest, and it creates a cohesive experience for your viewers as they interact with your content across different areas of Instagram.

Branding Elements You Need to Create a Frame

Before diving into the process of designing, it's important to gather your branding assets. These assets typically include your business logo, color palette, fonts, and any other visual elements that represent your brand. Ensure that your logo is available in high resolution, and consider the dimensions and specifications required for Instagram Stories. Having these assets ready will streamline the frame creation process and ensure that your branding is consistent and professional.

Step-by-Step Guide: Adding a Frame to Shared Reels

Here is a quick step by step process on how to create a branded frame for your Instagram Reels you want to share to your Instagram Stories:

Creating the Frame in Canva

Now it is time to dive into creating your Frame in Canva! If you don’t want to start from scratch, we have a “Let’s Be Transparent” Canva Template to help you when designing. (This is the one featured in the video above)

  1. Create a design in a 9:16 ratio (1080x1920 px)

  2. Grab one of the designs from the “Let’s Be Transparent” template pack and add in your branding elements, change the fonts, and colors

  3. Remove the background from your design to prepare it for exporting

  4. Click on the “SHARE” button, select “DOWNLOAD,” change the file type to PNG, and make sure the “Transparent Background” option is selected

  5. Download it on the mobile Canva app directly onto your phone, or if you download on your computer send the design to your phone

Adding Your Branded Frame to A Reel Shared in Stories

Now that you have your frame ready, it's time to share your Reel with the frame in your Instagram Stories. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open the Instagram app and navigate to the Reel you want to share.

  2. Tap on the "Share" button below the Reel.

  3. Choose the "Add to Your Story" option.

  4. Once the Reel is added to your Story, tap on the sticker icon and select the "Image" option.

  5. Select the PNG image you created and position it around the Reel.

  6. Adjust the appearance, size, or rotation if desired.

  7. Share your Story, and voila! Your Reel now has a pretty frame that reflects your brand.
